Private School in New Jersey
Private school in New Jersey excel in providing personalized education, emphasizing individual abilities, and nurturing diverse talents. We believe that the products of a proper education are self-determined students who are educated to think and learn for themselves and who can competently apply what they have learned to the real world.
We also believe that how students learn is of equal importance to what students learn and that the process of learning is itself a skill which must be taught.
When the skill of learning is taught correctly, it then paves the way for the individual student to further learn on his own initiative.
Finally, we believe that well-educated students will see that learning itself is a joy and an adventure and will, by their own nature, be avidly self-motivated, rigorously self-disciplined and highly self-confident.
SELF paced
People often learn at different speeds and by different means. At Ability School, children can take extra time on a subject or lesson if needed, and/or move ahead in areas that they excel in.
INTEREST & PURPOSE
We strive to work with children as independent learners and to meet their different interests and needs.
INDIVIDUALIZED
At Ability School, we focus on students as individuals and tailor their learning experience to them.
PROFICIENCY BASED
Our curriculum focuses on gaining 100% mastery of a lesson or a subject before moving on.

Everything we do at Ability is designed to allow students to explore their potential, give them tools they need to succeed, gain confidence in their ability to tackle anything they desire to learn and encourage them to achieve their goals and dreams.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
At Ability School, students work on many practical activities and lessons in a wide variety of subjects .
HANDS ON
We stress the importance of real-life application and experiences so students stay engaged and interested!
Mastery of the Basics
Literacy is an important component in the curriculum used at Ability School. We teach students how to read extremely well at a young age and then continue our rich literature program all the way through Middle School. Our students gain knowledge and a love of reading. The ability to write and communicate effectively improves dramatically. We extend this approach to other fields as well, such as mathematics and technology, since fluency and competence in any subject depend wholly on a mastery of the language involved.
TESTIMONIALS
“Our eight year old is an avid reader and is reading well above her grade level. Her CAT test scores show that she is well above the national average in all of her subjects. Some of her scores, including science, social studies and math placed her more than 4 years above her grade level based on her age! The curriculum at the school is so logical and intelligently organized. She can just expand her understanding on a gradient level, but always feel challenged. She has an energy and passion for learning about just about anything she can get her hands on. It is a joy to watch! The science checksheets are often so interesting, we learn things ourselves just talking with her about them. Her knowledge of history and the world around her is increasingly apparent every day. Her love of reading just about anything she can get her hands on is also a pleasure to watch. Overall, she is becoming very capable of taking on just about anything that she wants to learn about in terms of her ability to study. This program is giving her the tools that she will need to succeed in life!”

“Rachel never liked school before coming to The Ability School. She was easily frustrated and fidgety. She never felt as smart as the other kids in her class. We came to The Ability School because we liked that Rachel could move at her own speed. She wasn’t being measured against other children of the same age, but only against herself. We liked the idea that the kids had PE every day and not just once a week. We thought the children were well-mannered and engaged when we visited the school. The Ability School is everything we had hoped for and more. Rachel came to us after about three months of school and said, “I have a secret. I like school!” We were thrilled! Rachel is learning. She is highly motivated. She is pushed, but not to the point of frustration. She is learning. She has really nice friends. The teachers really know the kids and the kids really know the teachers. Each teacher is respected and each child is respected. The children are learning. Diversity is not only respected, but embraced. The school is truly a community where there is open communication between the students, parents and staff. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!”

“Since Nigel has started at the Ability School we have seen him grow tremendously. He started the school year not reading or writing much and in just a few months he is reading and loving it. He is very proud of himself and so are we. Nigel is our third child. His two older sisters went to public school, so I can attest to the fact that the Applied Scholastics technology far surpasses what is used in public school. The kids actually learn what they are being taught and they love doing it. We are very pleased with his progress and recommend the program to our friends.”

“We love and appreciate the smaller class sizes, which allow for more attention to be paid to each student. No one feels left out or behind. We are able to see just how much the teachers care about their students and their scholastic growth, by making sure that they understand each topic fully before moving on to the next. And, how this school promotes the students to figure out issues on their own, instead of doing it for them.”

“The second I walked through the doors of this school, I knew we found the best learning environment for our son, our two nieces and then later our daughter. This school is unique because instead of forcing children to fit into a mold for the convenience of the teacher, the staff of the Ability School embrace who your child truly is. My kids have been taught valuable life lessons about community, ethics and reason. Not every kid excels in every subject. If your child needs more help in certain areas, your child will get that help and time to really turn it around for themselves. Meanwhile, if your kid is outstanding in an area of study, they are given the space to really explore that subject and enhance their love of school. At our school you won’t hear about kids not wanting to come to school in the mornings. You will only hear the eagerness to learn that one dreams of when you first have a child. I can’t say enough about what the school has done for my family. My nieces and my son are honor roll students at their high schools. And my third grader loves school. What more can we ask of a school?”

“We love The Ability School for so many reasons. The diverse enrollment allows children from a young age to accept everyone without consideration to their background. My daughter learns a lot about different cultures and she is proud to tell people what she knows about them.”

“During usual years, I really appreciate that there are several field trips for the students to enjoy. Not many schools do that these days. I remember how much I enjoyed going on field trips when I was in grammar school. I am so glad that my daughter gets to experience that as well!

“We love The Ability School for the way they allow our son's development to be all his own. The things that he has natural abilities with, they nurture and enhance. The things he needs to work on, they take their time with him, keep him laser focused and truly work with us, the parents, to develop and grow him in those areas. The school feels like a family and my son has truly flourished under their curriculum. We actually tried to put him in a top rated school because of the town we lived in and ended up bringing him right back to the Ability School. The other school couldn't even compare!!! We're back now for good and we ALL, especially Tristan, could not be happier!!!!!”

“We Love the Ability School because they employ individualized, experiential learning as a core piece of their curriculum. This amazing school focuses on mastery of the material not recital for an exam. They teach and apply learning techniques that our children will use for the rest of their lives. Our elder son is a 22 year old college student and still applies those techniques to this day. The curriculum is structured in such a way that ensures the children not only understand what is being taught, but can also apply it to real life. At the Ability School you're part of a tight-knit family, primarily due to the patient and talented staff who see parent engagement as a critical part of the children’s education.”
